Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This app is provided by The Developers (info@thedevelopers.company). This policy explains what information is processed when you use the app.

2. Local-first design

The app is designed to keep your tax logs on your device. Mileage entries, expense entries, and receipt image files are stored in on-device storage (Isar database and the app documents directory). We do not create user accounts, and we do not operate a cloud database of your tax history.

3. Information processed on your device

• Mileage logs (start/end addresses, miles, deduction amounts, notes)
• Expense logs (merchant, amount, category, date, notes)
• Receipt images you capture or import
• CSV export files you generate
• Optional mileage-rate preference you set in Settings

4. Limited transmissions (only when you use a feature)

When you use certain features, the app sends data through our Cloudflare Worker proxy (taxlog1099-api) so API keys are not embedded in the app:

• Google Routes API / Places API (New) — address text or coordinates you enter to calculate driving distance or autocomplete places. Used only to fulfill that request.
• OpenAI (gpt-4o-mini) — receipt image data you choose to scan, so merchant/date/amount fields can be suggested. Parsed results are saved locally on your device.
• Google AdMob — advertising identifiers and standard ad-serving signals may be processed by Google to show banner, interstitial, and rewarded interstitial ads (including unlocking CSV export).

These third parties process data under their own policies. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Permissions

• Location (when in use) — optional help filling mileage start points
• Camera — photograph receipts
• Photos / media — import existing receipt images

6. Data retention & deletion

Tax data remains on your device until you delete entries or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes local database data and receipt files. Ephemeral API requests to Google or OpenAI are not retained by us as a lasting tax archive. CSV files you explicitly save or share are under your control.

7. Children

The app is intended for adult taxpayers and business users. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the age required by local law).

8. International processing

Our Worker may run on Cloudflare’s global network. Google and OpenAI may process requests in the United States or other regions where they operate.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
